Tuneday: Monsters of Folk

Monster of Folk Album Cover

[audio:01-Dear-God-Sincerely-M.O.F..mp3 | titles=Dear God Sincerely M.O.F. | artists=Monsters of Folk] [audio:03-Whole-Lotta-Losin.mp3 | titles=Whole Lotta Losin | artists=Monsters of Folk] [audio:13-Map-Of-The-World.mp3 | titles=Map of The World | artists=Monsters of Folk]

We all know that I love Conor Oberst and M.Ward; who I just featured in my last Tuesday Tuneday. That is why this is the best band EVER! Monsters of Folk consists of Jim James from My Morning Jacket, Conor Oberst and Mike Mogis from Bright Eyes, and M. Ward of She & Him. Could there be a more perfect combo of talent??? I personally don’t think so. I saw these guys in concert over a year ago, and it still holds the title of “Best Concert in My Life”! Their music is truly magical.
Enjoy!

Julian Casablancas: Man, Musician, Former Model, Cat. Well he really isn’t a cat. I just wanted to make sure you were paying attention. So I love Julian Casablancas as many girls do. Although I never had an uber crush on him in high school when The Strokes where my main jam. Anyhow I hope you enjoy these tunes today, on Tuesday Tuneday. I especially like Ludlow St., when he is talking about geting sober, and the music really sounds like a drunk trying to walk. Good one Julian.
Cheers.

Conor Oberst is my all time favorite musician. It was hard for me to pick just three of his songs for today’s playlist, but these three are definitely amongst my top picks. Thats about all I can say, I’ll let the music do the rest.

Tuneday: Hellogoodbye

Hellogoodbuy Would it Kill you

[audio:05-You-Sleep-Alone.mp3 | titles=You Sleep Alone | artists=Hellogoodbye]

[audio:08-I-Never-Can-Relax.mp3 | titles=I Never Can Relax | artists=Hellogoodbye]

Would it Kill You?…to listen to Hellogoodbye’s new album entitled “Would it Kill You?” No it won’t, so do it! Hellogoodbye is one of those bands I will always love. I had been waiting for a new album from them for a while. I would hear bands like Miniature Tigers and think, this is what the new Hellogoodbye would sound like. So it was to my dismay that the new album sounded nothing like old Hellogoodbye nor what I imagined new Hellogoodbye to sound like. I gave it one listen and said… forget this. That was until the other day when “When We First Met” popped up on my shuffle of tunes and made me rethink my original opinion. I’m totally in love with them once again.
It’s actually kind of cool since I am around the same age as the guys in the band, I grow with them. While I was in Highschool they were singing “will go to prom with me”, and now Forest is singing about his wife and the day they first met.
Any-who I hope you enjoy this edition of Tuesday Tuneday, come back next Tuesday for more tunage.

Ah yes, Another Tuesday Tuneday is upon us, and today I present to you Darwin Deez. This is what I consider “fun” music.  It’s super catchy and makes you wanna sing along and dance around. Fun music is good, but is different from the music I have been previously posting, which is normally based on lyrics and its emo qualities. lolzzz  Any-who, I have been listening to these catchy tunes all week and I’m still finding these song stuck in my head, and I can’t say that’s a bad thing. When I find new music, I like to listen to it over and over again, until I practically can’t stand it. I suggest you do the same with these songs. Well actually watch these videos over and over again. The videos are the best part about Darwin Deez. They was super unique and cute, and it looks to me like he makes a video for almost every song. Enjoy!

PS: My favorite line from “Constellations” is wrinkle, wrinkle little scar, count the freckles on my arm.
If freckles don’t mean anything, does anything mean anything? (this also is the BEST video!)

Daniel and the Lion

Sweet Teeth

Happy Tuesday Tuneday to all my music aficionados. I’ve got some good ones for you today. I’ll start it off with some slow jams. The first song being ‘The Chase’ from Daniel and the Lion off their new record “Sweet Teeth”. I’m really diggin’ this song of theirs. Also, I just so happened to go to high school with these guys, which gives you another reason to listen to more of their tunes here. Once you pop you can’t stop. I think I just came up with a new original slogan for them.

Next up we have some Tokyo Police Club. Yet another slow jam for your mind body and soul. I really like this song, especially this line, “You can buy it cans – tin cans, you were always the first, but I think you’ve got your hands reversed, hands reversed, hands reversed, and cool for sure” Now you can sign along too.
To finish up Tuneday, I give you two songs from Young the Giant. This is a newly found band for me. Let me know what you guys think. Oh and the chorus of ‘I Got’ really reminds me of another song, but I can’t figure it out. Also if you’re not feelin’ the slow jams today, ‘My Body’ should get you going again. Cheers!

Here is a little treasure for your eyes and ears. Girl crush, Jenny Lewis is one of my all time beloved artists. The song Next Messiah is up there with my tops. It’s a great “get pumped”  and driving jam. While,  A Better Son/Daughter is my choice emo tune. So pump up the volume, buckle in, and take a ride on the J.Lew train my friends. Happy Tuesday Tuneday! Lemme know what you think.
